NEW WEBSITE ANSWERS THAT AGE-OLD QUESTION: WHAT CAN I DO?

Today George Monbiot launches a new website, whose purpose is to answer the question everyone always asks: “What can I do?”.

www.globalrising.org is a directory of organisations all over the world working on positive global justice initiatives, which need voluntary help.

The site is a follow-up to Monbiot’s book ‘The Age of Consent’, which offers progressive proposals for change in the areas of global democracy, global finance and trade. Monbiot wants his readers to be more than armchair critics. He is seeking to bring together the organisations that need help with the people who want to provide it.

Monbiot comments:

“Millions of people would like to help make the world a better place, but they don’t know where to start. This is one of the biggest impediments to effective global action. Another is the fact that people keep reinventing the wheel, because they aren’t aware of other people’s efforts. I hope that Global Rising goes some way towards solving both problems.”

Links to www.globalrising.org are welcome, as are further submissions to the site. These can be made via www.globalrising.org
