URGENT “Stop the WAR Brigade” Press Release

“German Intelligence Units working hand in hand with the US Military Intelligence Unit responsible for the crimes at Abu Graib. “Partnership Units” were established as early as 1981.”

Recently there have been reports of abuse of iraqi prisoners by other military units of countries belonging to the so-called “Coalition of the Willing-Killing”, including Bulgaria, Australia, Great Britain, Italy, Poland and others led, of course, by the US Military. That should surprise no one who is aware of the methods employed by the Intelligence Sections of the US Military for over a hundred years.

Many countries are hypocritically condemning the brutal treatment of the prisoners in US custody. One country which has been quite reserved and mild in its criticism of the US is Germany. Germany happens to play a crucial role in the logistical support scheme of the war and any rebuke on their part of the war on Iraq has been half-hearted and insincere at best. The german government, just as it did in the Viet Nam War, is providing the US with a rear area of operations and without that assistance execution of the war would be made extremely difficult for the US.

We have recently learned that a liason exists between the very Intelligence unit, the 205th Military Brigade ( http://www.205mi.wiesbaden.army.mil), responsible for the torture, rape and murder of iraqi prisoners and Germany Intelligence Units. That information is posted right on the Internet.

”Partnership Units” have been established to better facilitate cooperation and exchange of ideas and procedures. How thorough-going is this partnership and to what end? Are German military intelligence officers operating in Iraq either as interrogators, trainees or observers? Was there intelligence gathered by german intelligence that indicated ååthe seriousness of abuse that was exposed?

Do other such “Partnership Units” exist among the members of the “Killing Coalition” and are the presently operating in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo?

They seem to have been comparing notes at every level and opportunity as indicated by their information disseminated on the official website. By the way, it seems that Colonel Pappas is still the commander of the Brigade unless they’ve forgotten to pull the website down.

Below is an interesting sample of their joint task and doctrine:

“The partnership was originally conceived and founded based on the common mission of the two units - interrogation of enemy prisoners of war …………Since becoming partners, the units have engaged in a variety of exercises aimed at both enhancing language skills and providing the means whereby each partner supports the other with aid and information in the event of an armed conflict. On the individual training level, the ongoing goals of the joint partnership are to increase each interrogator’s speaking ability in the target language, to increase knowledge of order of battle and to acquire more knowledge of the target nation’s culture.”

1ST MI BN PARTNERSHIP UNIT

RESERVISTENKAMERADSCHAFT WETZLAR

The Reservistenkameradschaft (RK) Wetzlar was established in 1966 in Wetzlar as part of the Association of Reservists of the German Bundeswehr E.V. Missions of the RK Wetzlar include serving as a bridge of understanding between the civilian populace and the armed forces specifically within NATO; combat multiplier of the Bundeswehr; maintenanceof readiness for State and Federal defense; and work towards understanding and communication between nations.

The friendship with the 1st MI Bn began in 1989. This was formalized in 1991 with the exchange of the Partnership certificate between the two units. The 132 soldiers of RK Wetzlar and the 1st MI Bn have made the partnership very active.

165TH MI BN PARTNERSHIP UNIT

DIE FRONTNACHRICHTENLEHRKOMPANIE 300

The official partnership between the 300th Frontnachrichtenlehr-kompanie (FNLKp) and D Co, 165th MI Bn, dates back to 15 November 1984. Unofficially, the union has existed much longer, as the units received the company-level Project Partnership Award for calendar years 1989, and 1991 through 1994. The 300th FNLKp was activated in Bad Ems in 1970, and relocated to Diez in 1971. The unit is the only active duty military intelligence unit in the Bundeswehr. The partnership was originally conceived and founded based on the common mission of the two units-interrogation of enemy prisoners of war in their native languages. Since becoming partners, the units have engaged in a variety of exercises aimed at both enhancing language skills and providing the means whereby each partner supports the other with aid and information in the event of an armed conflict. On the individual training level, the ongoing goals of the joint partnership are to increase each interrogator’s speaking ability in the target language, to increase knowledge of order of battle and to acquire more knowledge of the target nation’s culture.

302ND MI BN PARTNERSHIP UNIT

DIE FERNMELDEREGIMENT 320

The Fernmelderegiment (FMRG) 320 was first activated as the 320 SIGINT Battalion and 427 SIGINT Training Company in Frankenberg in 1962. The unit received its unit colors in 1965 and activated the 947 Reconnaissance Company in 1971. In 1977, elements from the 3d Company in Frankenberg activated as 2d and 5th Company, and the training company was renamed the 5/111 in 1980. In 1982, the Battalion reorganized as the 320 Regiment and celebrated its 30 year anniversary. The 947 SIGINT Company deactivated in 1993, and the next year the 320th reorganized and redesignated several companies under the deactivation of III Corps.

The unit established the partnership with the 302nd MI Bn in Frankfurt in 1981. Partnership activities between the 302d MI Bn and the 320 FMRG are directed towards strengthening friendship among German and American military intelligence soldiers. Past partnership activities have included shooting events, competition for the German Sports Badge and social events.Recently, an honor platoon from the 320 FMRG drilled and marched in the 302d MI Bn Change of Command Ceremony.

HHD PARTNERSHIP UNIT

Reservisten kameradschaft (RK) Limburg

Reservisten kameradschaft (RK) Limburg { Reserve Group LIMBURG } is a regional part of Verband der Reservisten der Deutschen Bundes wehr e.V. (VdRBw) [ Assosiation of Reservists of the German Armed Forces inc. ] located in Limburg-Weilburg county. At present the membership rate is up to more than 300 people, mostly reservists of all ranks and from every branch of the armed forces.

Reserve Group Limburg tries to get in touch with former soldiers and those still on active duty to pass information about voluntary reserve activities and to increase their military skills outside of the duty, thus serving peace and freedom. The members of Reserve Group Limburg see themselves as mediators between the Armed Forces and the people of Germany. Another task is providing a team spirit and a companionable home for members and guests alike.

After Reserve Group Limburg´s first US partner unit left Germany due to troop reductions, a new partnership was forged with the Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment of the 205 th (US) Military Intelligence Brigade [ HHD 205 th MI Bde ] in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim (Air Base) on May, 5 th 1995. Though a young partnership, the members of Reserve Group Limburg and the soldiers of HHD 205 th MI Bde have already shared many common military and social activities as well as friendships. This growing bond expressively shows the solidarity between these two NATO partners and makes a tremendous contribution to the German-American Friendship.”

The 205th Military Intelligence Brigade has a long and bloody past and we need to look into their activities in depth and across the board.
