Indymedia Linksunten launched
On the 23rd-25th of May 2008 a new Independent Media Centre (IMC) for South West Germany was founded: Indymedia Linksunten.
In Freiburg 30 media activists from South West Germany met to create another node in the worldwide network of independent media centres. Our background is the radical left, we are organised in autonomous groups and see ourselves as part of anticapitalist and libertarian movements.
We consider media activism as a crucial tool of social struggles for an emancipatory society. Indymedia is a non-commercial and participatory news portal that contributes to establish a counter public. The decentralisation of the German indymedia network seeks to strengthen and connect regional social movements and to put their struggles in a global context. Linksunten is an open project and calls for broad participation.
The history of indymedia is strongly linked to the worldwide movement against political summits. The 60th NATO summit in spring 2009 in Strasbourg and Kehl will be met with resistance and alternative media coverage from linksunten.
Don't hate the media, become the media!
