"SOCAL" MediaManny Chau 04 May 2016 14:59 GMT
Our generation has hundreds and thousands of friends and followers across social media platforms such Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, but yet our generation has never never been more alone. We go through our news feed every minute of every day and see people posting or tweeting about their daily lives. Our interactions with our friends seem to be endless, but what “social” media is really lacking, is the social aspect. Gone are the days of face to face interaction and connection on the personal level. How can we be social on social media when as soon as we open our computers/phones we close our doors and lock ourselves in our rooms? Do not get me wrong, social media when used intelligently can be a very effective tool in an era so controlled by technology, however, social media as most people use it is nothing more than a mirage causing people to believe they have more connections than they actually do. We are so caught up on on what is going on in our social media friend’s lives, that we forget to live in the moment of our own.
