Person of the Year - The American Soldier

NeverCalm!, 04.05.2004 14:29

Time's Person of the Year for 2003 is....the American Soldier.

The so called "Antwerp Rough diamonds connection with Al Qaeda". Questions about a possible manipulation of the public opinion by the American media. ( The Washington Post By Douglas Farah)

Jasson Main, 04.05.2004 14:11

For everyone that doesn't know me, here's a small introduction. I am Belgian and originally Lebanese. I was born and raised in Koïdu Town, Sierra Leone. This is one of the richest diamond mining areas of Sierra Leone. My father was a diamond dealer and I started doing rough diamond business from a very early age. I've always worked within the African continent. I've been coming to Belgium since I was a very young boy and I lived here for over 20 years. I never really lived in Lebanon, in total I spent there only 5 years. I was married for 7 years to a Belgian woman and had two children with her. A very ugly custody battle turned in to a battle against the world.

Samih Ossaily is onschuldig!

mario van prat, 04.05.2004 14:05

Samih Ossaily is onschuldig, inderdaad!

Open-ended fast

J. Peyret, 04.05.2004 13:58

Three persons decided to start an unlimited period of political fasting, on the 21rst June 2004,
in Paris.
Our goal is to get public awareness through this non violent action and to force the government
into taking a new direction, and choosing a nuclear free politic.
We wish to present two precise and concrete requests:
- To use part of the research budget to develop renewable energies
- To abandon the EPR nuclear reactor project (European Pressurized Reactor)

Western killers, please, spare us your disgusting ethics.

Agustin Velloso, 04.05.2004 08:38

Crocodile tears are being shed in the US and UK because of the occupation soldiers who engage in torturing Iraqi prisoners. After the decade long sanctions, the war of aggression, the occupation of the country and subsequent plunder, are we to believe in those tears? No way.

The Future of Religious Freedom Under the Israeli Occupation

Nasir Al-Shaer, 04.05.2004 08:34

The Israeli occupation, and especially the heightened aggression that has characterized the past three years, has severely impeded the internationally recognized rights of the Palestinian people to freely practice their religious believes. This is a direct violation of many statements from the international community for Israel to respect the rights of Palestinians of all faiths to pray freely, and to safely enter sacred sites.

Waverly, 04.05.2004 04:25

Our country’s power and military influence continues to span the world, and we blame Bush. In the rush to oust the current figurehead of the American Empire, we may be missing the bigger picture.

Sirhan Sirhan, A Political Prisoner in America

Gary Revel, 03.05.2004 23:36

After many years of investigation, research and study I believe that Sirhan Sirhan is innocent of the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Further he had very little knowledge of the American judicial system and really could not aid himself in his own defense to any significant degree. Because of many problems in the case that came forth after his conviction there is doubt that he put the bullet in the back of Robert's head that turned out to be the fatal shot. Sirhan Sirhan may be one of many political prisoners in America.

The last Europeans: Roma on the eve of enlargement

news.amnesty, 03.05.2004 13:54

As ten new countries join the EU on 1 May, some sections of the media have focussed on the Roma community. However, few have looked at the fact that Roma remain the subject of powerful exclusionary forces and many of these new EU states have problematic human rights records in respect to their Romani minorities. And they're not alone; the records of existing European Union Member states are similarly problematic.

Colombia: A dangerous place for trade unionists

news.amnesty, 03.05.2004 13:53

Colombia is the most dangerous country in the world to be a trade unionist. At least 80 trade unionists were killed or "disappeared" in 2003. The vast majority of human rights abuses against trade unionists were attributed to the security forces and paramilitary allies, although guerrilla forces were also held responsible for many abuses. Death threats against trade unionists almost doubled and impunity in cases of human rights violations against trade unionists is almost guaranteed.

In times of political strife, journalists are often among the first victims when groups turn to violence to achieve their aims.
